So that's my face over there, :) in the Thursday, Feb 6th Gleaner in the Food section. How honored I felt that my article came out on Bob Marley's Birthday! I am VERY excited and so thankful for the review of my business written by Krysta Anderson! When she messaged me to tell me that she wanted to interview me for an article in the local newspaper, I literally could not sleep! I was so excited. I thought about all the questions she would possibly ask me. I didn't tell anyone at first because it seemed to good to be true. But then excitement got the better of me and I told mom and a few friends, I dont know how but I forgot to tell my dad, but he was the first to call me bright and early Thurs morning at 7:30am! The article made front page, much to my surprise and it has truly made me feel even MORE motivated to do so much more this year and beyond. My parents are very proud of me, especially my mom; who isn't mentioned in it but she is THE backbone behind my business. Believe me! Without her, I would not be able to make deliveries or buy my ingredients most times. I am forever in her debt! Another thing I wanted to clear up is my age. I will be 26 in September but for now I'm still 25 :). Not rushing to be 26 either :). And my brother won't let me live if i don't clear up that I'm not an only child. I do in fact have a younger brother; same mother but different dads. So, yes I do want to carry on the legacy and name of my father, but I'm not an only child. For those who didn't get to buy a copy, you can read it online here: http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/20140206/cook/cook1.html Fondant cakes are becoming more and more popular for special occasions in Jamaica. And why not? They are pretty and allows the buyers to accentuate their cakes with the theme of their celebrations. With the introduction of cable programmes such as Cake Boss and Cupcakes Wars, Jamaicans are slowly embracing more and more extravagant ways to decorate their cakes and are also experimenting with different and more daring flavours. When you purchase a fondant cake however, there are few things to note and adhere to to ensure that your cake will remain fresh for at least 2 weeks after. |
